Lotte Group Vice Chairman Lee In-won was found dead Friday morning in an apparent suicide ahead of his appearance in front of prosecutors for questioning regarding the ongoing investigation into Lotte Group, according to police.
He was found on a walking trail in Gyeonggi Province. A note was later found in his car. Details on the note have not yet been confirmed.

Lee was widely known as the second-in-command at Lotte Group and a close trusted aide of Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin.
He was scheduled to appear before prosecutors Friday morning to be questioned over allegations of illegal transactions and embezzlement at Lotte Group.
