[THE INVESTOR] Ssangyong Motor said on Oct. 4 that its global sales continued to grow from a year earlier for a second consecutive month in September.

The automaker sold 12,144 cars globally in September, up 5.7 percent from the same month last year.

The on-year increase in September followed a 13.1 percent spike posted in the previous month.

The rise was attributed to a surge in exports, which jumped 22.2 percent on-year to 4,133 cars in September.

Domestic sales slipped 1.2 percent on-year to 8,011 vehicles, according to the company.

“The company’s exports, which have maintained a monthly sales level of 4,000 units since April, soared by 22.2 percent year-on-year, helped by growing exports of the Tivoli brand models to the European market,” it said in a press release.

In the first nine months of the year, the company exported 37,754 vehicles, up 9 percent from the same period last year, while its domestic sales gained 6.8 percent on-year to 73,929 cars.
